Creating Your Own Bookmarks

book011.promiseIf you like to read, it may have crossed your mind to get a bookmark. They are pretty handy when it comes to keeping your place in a great book, no matter what the topic!

Creating your own bookmarks is pretty simple and you can come out with one looking very professional, if its done right. The best place to start is by getting yourself a template with a pretty background. In this way, everything is pre-measured for you and there won’t be much guess work on your part.

I, personally like doing it this way better because I can customize it to my heart’s content! OK, so I am also a little bit of a control freak and like to be able to put things where I want them and this allows me to do so!

You will find a plethora of different types of templates for bookmarks for various occasions. Select one that you can fully edit. Once you have the template, you can create bookmarks for giving away as favors for any time of celebration. I’ve seen them distributed at school events, birthdays, baby showers, and even memorials.

I like to finish the bookmark off by laminating and adding a satin ribbon. This little extra step helps make a great finishing touch. When searching online, try the term “bookmark templates” and you should be able to pull up a large selection of online resources.

Pinning on Pinterest

Pinterest_LogoI LOVE Pinterest! Like so many people I’ve gotten on board to creating and pinning boards on this popular online resource! I think the reason why this has been so popular is because we are visual people and Pinterest makes it easy for us to see things at a glance quickly without having to read through a bunch of text.

It can be overwhelming to have to learn yet another new online social media platform. But if you take it slow, you’ll find Pinterest to be a great resource for you and realize it is very simple to learn. The premise of Pinterest is easy. Create a board, add images to this board and share!

When you are looking for something which you may not find in Google images, checking out the boards other people have created is better! The reason is because the images on these boards were hand-picked by people who really liked the image. Unlike Google images, you get a plethora of images that are a big mixture of bad and good with no rhyme or reason to them.

People categorize their boards in an orderly fashion according to category which makes it much easier to sort through and navigate. If you like a person’s board, then you can choose to follow them, if you like. I have found it to be quite the pleasurable experience and very resourceful.

There are boards from clothing related items to recipes, just about everything under the sun is on some kind of board on Pinterest. I highly recommend you try it, even if you don’t create your boards, you can search and explore others for your own personal interests.

If you’d like to see an example of my boards, here is one of my more popular ones:

Happy pinning!

Footprints in the Sand

template088A4.footprints.webfrontI really love that historic poem, Footprints in the Sand. It has become so popular and widely used throughout various different kinds of venue or event. I’ve seen it printed on everything from t-shirts to funeral programs. I think the reason its so popular is because for those who are faith based or spiritual in nature, it is an encouraging remembrance of a Savior who is always with us.

I first read that poem when I was in my 20s (which was many moons ago!), during a very low point in my life, or what seemed to be at the time. Reading that poem gave my spirit a lift and reminded me I wasn’t alone walking through the difficult times. Even though I FELT alone and only saw one pair of footprints in the sands of life I was walking, I was being carried through it.

I am thankful that my travels have given me wisdom today (from not making the same mistakes again!). Life can sometimes throw sour apples but many people often cling to their faith for support. Too often as well, people who do cling to faith and not see answers may waver and question, like me. But in the end, in retrospect, you always see 20-20. At least that’s how it was for me and for that, i’m thankful.

Even writing this today, gives me goose-pimples! There is something supernatural that happens in faith. It’s something that surpasses all human understanding and something I am constantly amazed of. Maybe so many people in this world need that same kind of spiritual help. Maybe that is why this poem is very popular.

Themes For Thank You Card Designs

162974080237304932_bTT7pRrA_cThank you cards send a positive message of thanksgiving by the sender. They are sent as a form of expressing a sincere thank you to the recipient for doing something that has deeply touched the person. It is a form of etiquette and one that is often appreciated.

You can purchase some preprinted cards virtually anywhere and then there are now thank you cards that come in the form of templates. A must have for those who would rather print them whenever they want to.

This photo on the left is an example of a thank you card that was created from a template. Some designs are actually much more beautiful than those that come preprinted and can be purchased at any drug store.

You can also write your own personalized message on the inside so if you have to send out alot of them, it prevents writer’s cramp too! These are basically the two types available for creating thank you cards.

You can match the card design with any funeral programs you created yourself. This will help keep the theme consistent so it is carried on throughout the whole event. Using funeral program templates can be a good idea because often retailers who provide such templates will also have a thank you card template to match.

The Necessity of a Guest or Registry Book

guest booksGuest books may seem like a small detail one can go without when having a party of big event but on the contrary, it is quite the essential item! Guest books allow the host to be able to collect the names of all the attendees or guests that came to the party!

It can be a way for you to obtain addresses and emails from your family and friends. Often when you are hosting a party, its not always feasible for you to be able to talk to everyone, let alone get their address or phone numbers! The guest book enables you to be able to do this all in one simple step! Just placing the guest book at the entrance of an affair will make it a given for people to know to sign in.

Nowadays you can get a guest book virtually anywhere and the web is flowing with different designs and themes for a guest book. Some are very inexpensive and others are quite the keepsake item. You can even make it yourself, if you feel so inclined!

So for your next party. Do not go without having one of these. If its a small, intimate party, you can still have one and maybe get your guests to write a personal note or momento instead of a gift. You can be as creative as you like, let your imagination go and i’m sure you’ll find a thousand uses for one of these!

Baby Shower Invitations

babyshower004.babytalk.webfrontBabies are SO cute! I love them and love celebrating the shower for the new mom-to-be! It is a momentous occasion in a woman’s life when she is about to give birth to a new little life. The baby shower just helps this dream become a reality

The baby shower is generally given by a relative or close friend. It is a time of women and nowadays, men are included too, gathering together to shower the new mom with gifts for the new born babe. It is an exciting time, for sure! Guest are contacted via special invitations.

Sometimes the host will use baby shower invitation templates to create the invites so that its easier and inexpensive. Doing it yourself creative projects are always a money saver. You gotta have the tools though and one tool is having a predesigned template where all you have to do is just customize it.

Sending Photo Christmas Cards

holiday028.candlelite webfrontI know its past the holiday or Christmas season but I felt it was well worth mentioning since this last holiday season taught me a tremendous lesson in being more cost effective and time conscious.

Like everyone, I purchased some photo Christmas cards from an online printer resource. It was a horrifying experience! My photo wasn’t even the correct one on the card I chose! Yikes and the problem was compounded when they refused to refund my money! Oh, that alone has taught me that when it comes to this annual tradition, its best to do it myself.

So, I went on a hunt to find photo christmas card templates that I can create myself but look like I store bought them. Lo and behold, I found a great site that offers not only photo cards but other templates as well for every event I would celebrate.

I downloaded a template for the card and soon was able to complete a beautiful Christmas card photo of my family. Needless to say, this is what I sent out to my family and friends. It also cost me half as much as my first failed option. The internet is a wonderful resource and I’m so very happy to know that I can go on at a moment’s notice and download anything I need!

Woo hoo! Here is my card. Hope you like it! Here’s a video from where I got my cards from:
